Consent is the foundation of all healthy sexual encounters. Here is what it actually looks like.
F.R.I.E.S.
- Freely Given Consent cannot be given under pressure, threat, or while intoxicated/incapacitated.
- Reversible You can change your mind at ANY time. Even if you're naked. Even if you're halfway through.
- Informed Both parties must know exactly what they are agreeing to (e.g., disclosure of STI status, birth control use).
- Enthusiastic Consent isn't just the absence of a "no." It's an enthusiastic "YES!"
- Specific Consent to one act (kissing) does not imply consent to others.
